The Defence Power Systems business unit of Ultra Electronics PMES has a core capability in the design and manufacture of power conversion and control equipment for the Naval Marine environment and has for many years been providing and supporting equipment to UK surface and submarine programmes.
A sub-system which replaces the traditional hydraulic or pneumatic start systems for gas turbines with an electric drive and motor. In additional the system can be expanded to include power converters and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) to support the Gas Turbines auxiliary loads and provide a ‘black start’ capability.
A sub-system comprising power conversion, control and distribution equipment to provide electrical power to support aircraft whilst on board the naval platform. PMES has supplied the Type 45 Helicopter Start and Servicing Systems which comprises a 40kVA 400Hz Static converter, 28V Transformer Rectifier Unit and all the associated Control and Distribution equipment.
PMES is an established supplier of Control and Instrumentation consoles to the Royal Navy’s SSN and SSBN Fleet.
PMES is an established supplier of the Rod Control Gear and Pressuriser Heater Controller, which form part of the Reactor Control and Instrumentation System, to the Royal Navy’s SSN and SSBN Fleet.
